Shahid Kapoor in the role of a popstar drug addict in ‘Udta Punjab’ has given his fans hopes to see something new. It took some convincing and a lot of hard work for the actor to accept the character. “I rarely do loud characters, this is maybe the first time. There is a very thin line between playing a loud role and a normal one. At times it may look fake and may become irritating,” says Shahid. The actor sat with his director Abhishek Chaubey to understand Tommy Singh, the character he is playing. “To understand cocaine addicts, why they are so hyper, I spent a lot of time with the director. It was a very difficult journey, I don’t know if I have achieved it. But the approach was to portray an honest character,” says Shahid Kapoor. ‘Udta Punjab’ stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt alongside Shahid Kapoor.
