Saif Ali Khan’s quirky film, ‘Kaalakaandi’, has recorded a low start at the box office, collecting Rs 1.25 crore on Friday, Rs 1.20 crore on Saturday Rs 1.40 crore on Sunday. The film received mixed reviews and failed to pull the urban crowds, as it is set in the metro city of Mumbai. Interestingly though, all the box office figures are only adding to the profits of ‘Kaalakaandi’! The film was made on a tight budget of Rs 7 crore, plus 4 crore for its marketing and promotions. And the music, satellite and digital rights of ‘Kaalakaandi’ were sold for Rs 11 crore. Hence the box office collection is the film’s profit figure.
