The actor’s recent interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi went viral on the internet. Several netizens pointed out that Akki did not have the right to vote in India because he is not Indian citizen. Finally speaking about the controversy, Akshay says, “I really don’t understand the unwarranted interest and negativity about my citizenship. I have never hidden or denied that I hold a Canadian passport. It is also equally true that I have not visited Canada in the last seven years. I work in India and pay all my taxes in India,” firmly. Though the controversy snowballed, everything went smooth at a later stage.
