Rani Mukerji’s upcoming cop thriller ‘Mardaani 2’ takes on a serial rapist in the city of Kota and several residents of the town expressed their displeasure over the city being shown in bad light. Clarifying on the same writer-director Gopi Puthran states “‘Mardaani 2’ addresses a huge societal issue of rape and the rise of horrific crimes committed by juveniles in India. Kota has been used by us only as the setting for this film. We are in no way suggesting that such events or incidents happen in Kota and there was no intention to tarnish the reputation of the city. We are deeply regretful.” Meanwhile, Yash Raj Films has decided to remove ‘Inspired By True Events’ from the trailer.
