Veteran Bollywood actress Kumkum, known for her roles in films like ‘Mother India’ and ‘Naya Daur’, passed away today at the age of 86. Her other notable works include movies like ‘Ujala’, ‘Kohinoor’, ‘Raja Aur Runk’, ‘Geet’, ‘Aankhen’, and ‘Lalkar’. Condoling her death, comedian Jagdeep’s son Naved Jafri said, “We have lost another gem. I have known her since I was a kid. She was family. A superb artiste and a fantastic human being. Rest in peace, Kumkum aunty.” The actress debuted in the Hindi film industry with the song ‘Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar’ from ‘Aar Paar’. The number went on to be an instant hit and the work started pouring in for the actress. Another song, ‘Yeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan’ from the same film was also picturised on Kumkum and Johnny Walker.
