World renowned singer and Bharat Ratna awardee Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6 this year. Since then, talk of a memorial and musical institute to be built in her memory are only getting louder. As per some reports, the state government had given a nod to build a college while Lata ji was still alive. But that never happened. Now it is being said that there could be a memorial at Shivaji Park, where Lata was cremated. But reports suggest that her brother, Hridaynath Mangeshkar and the family are leaning towards building a musical institute rather than having a memorial. A top-class college can serve many music enthusiasts across the world and will be in Lata’s remembrance for many years to come without any controversy.
