After a box office debacle of ‘Bachchhan Paandey’, the Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ has recorded a positive trend but still has a long way to go. The film released on June 3rd with an opening figure of Rs 10.70 crore. Over the weekend, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ continued to climb and earned Rs 12.60 crore on Saturday and Rs 16.10 crore on Sunday. However, the film failed to touch the coveted Rs 50-crore mark in its first weekend at the box office as it stood with a total collection of Rs 39.40 crore. Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ is an epic historical which marked the Bollywood debut of former Miss World Manushi Chhillar. ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ faced some competition at the box office from the Kamal Haasan-starrer ‘Vikram’ & ‘Major’.
