After a whirlwind of scheduling changes and legal disputes, ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ is finally set to hit theatres on May 23rd. Originally slated for a May 9th theatrical release, the film’s journey took an unexpected turn when rising India-Pakistan tensions prompted Maddock Films to pivot to an OTT premiere on Prime Video on May 16th. This abrupt shift sparked a fierce backlash from Indian theater chain PVR Inox, which filed a lawsuit against Maddock Films citing a Rs 60 crore loss due to the breach of contract. However, the dust has now settled and the multiplex chain has reportedly withdrawn its compensation demand clearing the way for the film’s promotional campaign to resume today. In a rare move, ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ will debut on Prime Video India on June 6th, just two weeks after its theatrical release – an exception to the industry’s standard eight-week gap between cinema and digital premieres.
