In a decisive move to reclaim control over her digital identity, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has taken legal action against the unauthorized use of her name, image and voice. The Bollywood icon filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking to block entities from leveraging her persona for publicity or profit without her explicit consent. Justice Tejas Karia, presiding over the matter signalled a firm stance on the issue stating, “We’ll pass an order against each of the defendants (to take down the URLs), because prayers are broad. But we will grant injunctions separately.” The court is expected to issue protective orders that will safeguard Rai’s personality rights and mandate the removal of infringing online content. This legal push echoes earlier victories for fellow actors Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor, whose likenesses were similarly defended through judicial injunctions.
