As conversations around the ideal window between theatrical and OTT releases heat up, Akshay Kumar has offered his perspective on Aamir Khan’s recent suggestion for a six-month gap. While current norms mandate an eight-week buffer, Akshay believes a shorter interval strikes the right balance. “Six months is too long because at the end of the day, the OTT platform is paying you for the digital rights,” he told ABP Live, emphasising the importance of fairness in the digital ecosystem. The actor, known for his quantitative output and producer’s insight, pointed out that streaming platforms deserve their share of value, “When it comes to digital rights sales, producers happily take money from the OTT platform. But when we want to, we also conveniently say our films aren’t working because of OTT.” Akshay didn’t shy away from calling for introspection within the industry, urging filmmakers to evaluate the quality of their content.
