Prem Chopra, one of Bollywood’s most enduring screen presences, is currently recuperating at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital And Research Centre following a bout of chest congestion. The 89-year-old actor, whose cinematic legacy spans classics like ‘Do Raaste’, ‘Kati Patang’ and ‘Kranti’, was admitted on Saturday, November 8th and has since been under close medical supervision.
Despite initial concerns, Chopra’s condition is improving steadily. His family has shared that he may be discharged within the next few days. Offering clarity on the situation, Dr Jalil Parker stated, “Prem Chopraji was admitted to Lilavati Hospital two days ago under his family cardiologist Dr Nitin Gokhale. He has a heart issue and also developed a viral infection, lung infection, for which I am also the treating physician in the same team. He is not in the ICU, he is in the rooms, in the wards and he is not critical.”
The actor’s health scare has prompted a wave of quiet support from fans and colleagues alike, many of whom remember his iconic villainous roles that defined Hindi cinema from the late ’60s through the mid-’90s. With reassuring updates from his medical team and family, admirers are hopeful for his swift return home.
