A newly released behind-the-scenes feature offers audiences an exclusive window into how ‘Ramayana’ was brought to life, while simultaneously shedding light on the filmmakers’ casting decision for the role of Lord Ram. The choice to cast Ranbir Kapoor took center-stage in the video, where he opened-up about what it means to carry such a monumental character to the big screen. During the segment, Ranbir drew inspiration from his predecessor Arun Govil, expressing deep admiration and citing a particularly meaningful observation: “Mr Arun Govil, Arun sir, is the iconic Lord Ram for all of us. His one line that really resonated with me: ‘Kshama Dharma, Kshama Yagya, Kshama Veda, Sanatana.’ ‘Bhagwan Ram ki sabse badi shakti unka dhanush nahi tha, woh unki kshama thi.’ His ability to forgive. This is not just a role. It’s not that I’ve been offered a film and it’s an exciting role… this is a responsibility.”
Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, the ambitious project boasts an impressive ensemble cast. Beyond Ranbir in the titular role, the lineup includes Sai Pallavi as Sita, Arun Govil as King Dashrath and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, alongside notable names such as Yash, Sunny Deol, Vivek Oberoi, Lara Dutta and Rakul Preet Singh. Audiences can expect the first instalment to premiere in Indian cinemas on November 8th.
