The wedding of Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt ignited significant backlash within certain communities who challenged the union on doctrinal grounds and invoked accusations of Love Jihad against the actor. To defend himself against these charges, the actor has come forward with clarifications regarding his matrimonial decisions. In conversations with media house Deccan Chronicle, he disclosed that all three of his spouses retained their original faiths and did not undertake any religious transformation. His reasoning was straightforward: “Gauri, Reena and Kiran did not change their religions when they married me, as we had civil marriages.” When asked about Spratt’s background, he provided additional context: “Gauri is not a Hindu, she is Christian, and not even a practising Christian at that.” To illustrate the multicultural fabric of his household, he elaborated further during the same discussion: “Ours is a very inclusive family.” He proceeded to enumerate relatives as evidence: “Both my sisters are married to Hindus, and my daughter too is married to a Hindu. My cousin Mansoor is married to a Christian.” Aamir’s marital timeline began with Reena Dutta in 1986, progressed to filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005 and concluded with a confidential ceremony joining him to Gauri Spratt on July 5, 2026 conducted under the provisions of the Special Marriage Act.
