‘Aashiqui 3’ was launched amidst much fanfare when it was announced that heartthrob, Kartik Aaryan will headline the film. This romantic journey was to be third in the series with Aashiqui and Aashiqui 2 releasing in 1990 and 2013 respectively. In a setback to the actor as well as bad news for fans, ‘Aashiqui 3’ now seems to be put on hold or completely shelved for the time being. T-Series issues clarification on the rumours. In an official statement, T-Series has clarified that it is not presently involved in the development or production of ‘Aashiqui 3’.” Adarsh then shared the statement from the production house, which reads, “If and when ‘Aashiqui 3’ is initiated, T-Series and Vishesh Films/Mukesh Bhatt being joint owners in the franchise shall produce it jointly only. We categorically deny any ongoing rumours suggesting that ‘Aashiqui 3’ is being produced under a different title by T-Series. Our proposed film, to be directed by Anurag Basu, is neither ‘Aashiqui 3’ nor part of the ‘Aashiqui’ franchise.” The latest musical in the series was to be directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series and Mukesh Bhatt of Vishesh Films, with Pritam at the helm of music.
