Actor Aditya Pancholi’s conviction in a 2005 parking assault case has been affirmed by a sessions court in Mumbai. However, instead of serving a one-year jail term as originally sentenced by a magistrate, Pancholi has been released on a bond of good behavior. Additionally, the sessions court has ordered the 59-year-old actor to pay Rs 1.5 lakh as compensation to Pratik Pashine, the victim of the assault under the Probation of Offenders Act. Back in November 2016, the Metropolitan Magistrate (Andheri) had found Pancholi guilty under IPC section 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) for the assault over a parking dispute and sentenced him to one-year simple imprisonment. Pancholi then appealed against the conviction and sentencing. On Thursday, Additional Sessions Judge DG Dhoble partially accepted Pancholi’s appeal, ruling that the actor would not need to serve the jail term.
