In all probability, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will play double role in her upcoming film with director Mani Ratnam. ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, a film based on the Tamil novel with the same title, will see Ash playing the characters of Nandini as well as her mute mother Mandakini Devi. ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is a very famous historical novel written by author Kalki Krishnamurthy. Though official confirmation about her role and characters is still awaited, Aishwarya has confirmed working in the film a few days back. The film allegedly also stars Mohan Babu, Amitabh Bachchan, Anushka Shetty and Keerthy Suresh among others. Since the novel tracks the story of the Chola Dynasty and king Arulmozhi Varman based in the 10th and 11th centuries, huge sets will have to be erected before commencing the shoot.
