The GQ Style Awards 2018 took place on 31st March at Taj Lands End in Mumbai, with a vast array of A-List attendees present, including Akshay Kumar who took home the coveted ‘GQ Legend’ award.

With a career spanning more than 25 years and still going strong, Kumar has cemented himself as a prominent figurehead of the Bollywood industry, during which time we have seen him evolve not only in his capacity as a multi-talented actor but also as a style icon. His suave elegance and persona saw him named GQ ‘Ultimate Man of the Year’ in 2015.Earlier in the month, he was also seen on the cover of GQ India.

In a statement following his win, the ever-charismatic Khiladi said: “Thank you GQ for this honour. I’d heard this saying that either you have style or you don’t. But you see, I bought my style with money while growing up. And that’s a fact and many of us do it. I used to save up money to buy international magazines only to tear out the pages that featured Hollywood celebrities, so I could follow their fashion sensibilities and use that as inspiration to work on my own fashion sense and style. I see many actors doing that even today. So, thank you GQ, I am grateful for this honour.”

Being the first GQ Style Awards show to take place in India, the event was highly anticipated and needless to say, it did not disappoint. The star-studded event celebrated individuals from a broad range of fields for being fashion trendsetters, risk takers and shapeshifters. Kumar was seen sporting military pants with a black shirt and tux. Other winners and attendees included Alia Bhatt (Most Stylish Woman), Shahid Kapoor (Most Stylish Man), Jim Sarbh (Style Maven), Isabelle Kaif and Nushrat Bharucha.

We look forward to watching Akshay Kumar as he continues to evolve and progress in the industry, be that through his fashion or film choices. One thing that is certainly clear is that Akshay Kumar is a man of both style and substance.
