The Maharashtra government recently declared that theatres will have to screen Marathi films in the peak hours of 6pm to 9pm. Columnist Shobhaa De expressed her views on the same through micro blogging site Twitter. While she may have her reasons for doing so, there are several others who have encouraged the move. Ace filmmaker Anurag Kashyap spoke positively about the same as he said, “It is good. Out of the five screens, one screen for a Marathi film is very good for regional cinema.” While on the other hand, Anil Kapoor too applauded the move. He said, “I think I will encourage it. Marathi films should be shown.” The government later retracted its move by changing the slot to 12 to 9 after coming under pressure from all sides.
