Filmmaker Hansal Mehta recently received a letter from the Censor Board, asking to make a few cuts in his upcoming film ‘Aligarh’. I am a bit surprised at the cuts that they have asked for. The film is about loneliness, relationships and a homophobic society. The Censor is behaving like this homophobic society that did this to professor Siras (on whom the story is based). We are running around the Censor Board and tribunal, justifying free expression,” says the filmmaker. The trailer has just been launched, which again has been certified as A. Hansal Mehta adds, “My anger is with the trailer, they have kind of aborted the promotions by issuing the trailer an A certificate saying that the theme is adult.”
