Vicky Kaushal’s latest cinematic venture ‘Chhaava’, has taken the Indian box office by storm securing its place as the 11th highest-grossing Indian film to date. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the biographical film chronicles the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and has struck a chord with viewers across the nation. After just 18 days, the film has amassed an impressive Rs 467 crore, toppling the record previously set by Prabhas and SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali – The Beginning’ which earned over Rs 421 crore upon its release in 2015. Furthermore, ‘Chhaava’ has outshined other major hits like the 2018 science fiction blockbuster ‘2.0’, which earned Rs 407 crore, and the 2023 release ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’, with a collection of Rs 406.45 crore. Even in North America, a key market for Hindi cinema outside India, ‘Chhaava’ has performed exceptionally well, surpassing the US $5 million mark. With these achievements, ‘Chhaava’ has firmly established itself as one of the top-earning films in Indian cinema.
