The team behind Agastya Nanda and Dharmendra’s war drama ‘Ikkis’ has opted for a tactical shift in its rollout by pushing the film from its earlier 25th December slot to a New Year’s Day arrival on January 1, 2026. Their announcement on X framed the move with the message: “This New Year, gift yourself courage. Final ‘Ikkis’ trailer drops this weekend in theaters. A new chapter unfolds in legendary director Sriram Raghvan’s first war film. The true story of India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra Awardee, Second Lt Arun Khetarpal. Some heroes die young. Experience courage in cinemas. ‘Ikkis’ releasing on 1st January 2026.”

The decision comes at a time when the Christmas corridor is turning into a high-stakes battleground for major releases. ‘Dhurandhar’ continues to command screens nationwide, and ‘Avatar: Fire And Ash’ is poised to draw massive footfall with its December 19th India debut. By stepping out of the holiday congestion and sidestepping a head-on clash with Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s romantic drama ‘Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri’, ‘Ikkis’ positions itself for a cleaner, more focused theatrical run. The January 1st date effectively hands the film an uncluttered launch window, giving its narrative of valour and sacrifice room to breathe at the box office.
