An avid football enthusiast, John Abraham will play the role of Shibdas Bhaduri, and will captain the Indian football team in his upcoming Bollywood flick ‘1911’. The film will be directed by Nikkhil Advani and is based on India’s historic win in the Indian Football Association (IFA) Shield, opposite East Yorkshire Regiment, an elite branch of the British army. Shibdas led the Mohun Bagan team in the match. “What makes ‘1911’ special is that it is not just about the coach, the players or even the game. Rather it’s also about India’s freedom struggle. Like ‘Parmanu’, the idea is to educate in an entertaining way so the viewers walk out of the theatre saying, ‘Wow, I didn’t know this!’,” says an excited John. The film will go on the floors in November and will be shot over three months in Kolkata.
