Legendary Bollywood actress Sridevi dies at 54


One of India’s most loved actresses, Sridevi Kapoor, died following cardiac arrest yesterday evening. The actress was in Dubai attending her nephew, Mohit Marwah’s, wedding. Sridevi is survived by her husband, Boney, and daughters Jhanvi and Khushi Kapoor.

Sridevi made her first Bollywood film in 1978, eventually starring in more than 150 films including “Mr. India” and “Sadma.” In 2013, she was awarded the Padma Shri, the country’s fourth highest civilian accolade for her contributions to Indian cinema.

Her untimely death has caused an out pour of grief-stricken colleagues, fans & well-wishers to take to twitter and pay tribute to the megastar. Regarded as India’s first female superstar, she will truly be missed. The body of the late actress will be brought to Mumbai tomorrow, where her funeral rites will take place.
