Supreme Court stayed the ban on the screening of ‘Padmaavat’ by four states in India, as the three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud. An interim order was passed which prohibited any state from blocking the movie from being screened, which was also been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The apex court reportedly refused to entertain a plea filed by lawyer Manohar Lal Sharma, which challenged the CBFC certificate issued to the film. Thus, the decks for ‘Padmaavat’ release are now clear.
