An unprecedented legal safeguard now protects Ranbir Kapoor’s ambitious mythological epic ‘Ramayana’. The Bombay High Court, presided over by Justice Madhav Jamdar, issued a protective order following a copyright suit initiated by Godpower Media Private Limited, the entity controlling the film’s rights across India and international markets. The judicial directive specifically prohibits unauthorised duplication, dissemination, or broadcast of the project. Additionally, the court mandated that internet service providers and digital social networks actively monitor and eradicate illegally distributed versions upon notification from the rights holders. The magnitude of this protection underscores the film’s enormous scale – its first instalment alone commanded a production budget of Rs 2,000 crore, with the complete two-part venture requiring an investment of Rs 4,000 crore, the makers submitted in the court. Such comprehensive safeguards reflect the filmmakers’ commitment to combating intellectual property violations.
