At the trailer launch of ‘Pink’, filmmaker Shoojit Sircar expressed that he is repaying Amitabh Bachchan with films such as ‘Piku’ and ‘Pink’ as their film ‘Shoebite’ could not release. “When a film doesn’t release you do feel bad for it. But we have moved on. I think ‘Piku’ and ‘Pink’ are my repayment as we could not do ‘Shoebite’ and it could not release. So I am repaying the debt,” says the filmmaker when asked about the status of ‘Shoebite’. When Percept Picture Company could not release ‘Shoebite’, Sircar took the film to UTV. However, Percept then filed a lawsuit against UTV to stop the film from releasing. The case was later dismissed.
