On the silver screen actors have to portray different characters, which at times smoke and drink too. Movies tend to show such characters in the negative light, explained Varun Dhawan, “Whenever there are smoking scenes shown in films, there is generally someone telling them to quit, or saying that it is a bad habit. Most of the times there are villains who are smoking cigars and they are the bad characters.” Defending the portrayal of the same in movies Varun added, “I think films are a representation of the society, so that is reality. I am an actor and I am playing characters which smoke because there are people in real life who smoke. But Varun Dhawan condemns smoking”.
