Bollywood comedian and Javed Jaffrey’s father, actor / filmmaker Jagdeep passed away at the age of 81. He was suffering from an age-related illnesses since some time. Jagdeep breathed his last at his Bandra home in Mumbai on July 8th around 8:30 pm. Due to pandemic restrictions, only a limited number of Bollywood colleagues and family members attended his last rites. Apart from Jagdeep’s sons Jaaved and Naved Jaffery, Javed’s son Meezaan and fellow comedy king Johnny Lever made it to the cemetery. Although the comedian worked in many iconic films, his character of Soorma Bhopali in ‘Sholay’ earned him the most admiration. He acted in films like ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, ‘Qurbani’ and ‘Agent Vinod’ to name a few. Jagdeep’s last film was ‘Gali Gali Chor Hai’ in 2012.
