While Aamir Khan seems to have come out in the support of the Maharashtra government’s decision to screen Marathi films in primetime slots, lyricist Javed Akhtar too stands for the same. Akhtar said, “I think out of five screens, if one Marathi film is shown on one screen from 6-9 then there is no problem in that.” However the poplar musician added that more has to be done for Marathi cinema than just providing a good slot. “This is not enough. Marathi cinema is progressing on its own without much support. They have made wonderful films like ‘Court’ and ‘Shwaas’. The government should not levy any Entertainment Tax.”
