Popular columnist and author Shobhaa De faced a lot of flak for her post about Indian athletes competing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. Shobhaa wrote on Twitter, “Goal of Team India at the Olympics: Rio jao. Selfies lo. Khaali haat wapas aao. (Go to Rio. Click selfies. Come back empty-handed). What a waste of money and opportunity.” Reacting to the same, Bollywood actress Kangna Ranaut says, “This is very disturbing thing to say to people who are representing us. It can be a very personal opinion, but to be such a credible author and powerful woman whom people look up to, is disheartening.”
